Bloomington Hills 8th Ward YW Goals
Our vision as a young women's presidency is to help our young women understand their purpose, identity, and divine worth as a child of God. By implementing the 2024 Youth Theme, I am a Disciple of Christ (3 Nephi 5:13), into our weekly activities and Sunday lessons, we want our young women's activities and Sunday worship to be a respite from the world. We want our young women and leaders to come together to feel loved, have fun, feel encouraged, nourished and most importantly, to gain a relationship with our Savior. We want to help the young women learn for themselves how to recognize the Spirit as a guiding force throughout their lives.
We will do this in the following ways:
Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ
With the help of young women class presidencies, we will implement quarterly goals as a young women group based on the 4 guiding principles of the Children and Youth Program.
Physical, Social, Intellectual, and Spiritual
Each quarter, we will encourage each other to work on these goals by implementing them in our Sunday lessons and weekly activities.
We will encourage the young women to study the Book Of Mormon each day. We will help them learn to intentionally apply what they have read each day into their lives, no matter how many verses they read.
Caring for those in need
Serve in our community
We want to have at least 2 community service activities this year
We feel it important for the young women to see in small or big ways, the positive impact that serving those outside of ourselves can have.
We will share with the young women that the Savior is our ultimate example of service and love to all.
Inviting all the receive the Gospel
We will encourage our young women to invite a non member friend, or less active member of our faith to activities and Sunday worship at least once this year.
We will do this by encouraging them to pray often for organic missionary experiences, and be guided by the Spirit.
We will also encourage them to understand how the Spirit is teaching them, and what promptings may feel like.
Uniting Families for Eternity
Bishop has expressed his desire for the youth to serve in the temple as much as possible.
We will help the youth participate in Baptisms for the Dead multiple times this year.
We will encourage our young women to bring family names to the temple. We would like for them to have a goal of bringing at least 1 family name this year.
I am a beloved daughter of heavenly parents, with a divine nature and eternal destiny.
As a disciple of Jesus Christ, I strive to become like Him. I seek and act upon personal revelation and minister to others in His holy name.
I will stand as a witness of God at all times and in all things and in all places.
As I strive to qualify for exaltation, I cherish the gift of repentance and seek to improve each day. With faith, I will strengthen my home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, and receive the ordinances and blessings of the holy temple.
